UFC 283: Teixeira vs. prediction Hill, Odds, Picks, Start Time: The Best Fight Card Bets From The Top MMA Expert

Glover Teixeira will look to add another chapter to his mixed martial arts legacy on Saturday when he takes on rising contender Jamahal Hill for the vacant light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 283. Their matchup highlights the pay-per-view main card of UFC 283 (10 pm ET) from the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At UFC 267 in October 2021, Teixeira became the first-oldest UFC champion at age 42 when he defeated former title holder Jan Blachowicz. The Brazilian lost the title last year, but will become a champion for a second time if he overcomes No. 7-ranked Hill, who is making his first appearance in a title fight.

Caesars Sportsbook lists Hill as the -125 favorite (risk $125 to win $100), while Teixeira returns to +105 in the latest UFC 283: Teixeira vs. Odds. Hill. In the co-main event, flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (-105) takes on nemesis Brandon Moreno (-115) in the fourth meeting between the rivals. UFC 283 preview: Teixeira vs. Hill

The confrontation of Teixeira vs. Hill hastily armed himself with a six-week notice after the promotion’s previous plans for the light heavyweight division didn’t pan out as expected. At UFC 282 in December, Magomed Ankalaev and former champion Jan Blachowicz squared off for the interim title with the fight ending in a rare split draw, leaving the title unclaimed.

UFC president Dana White, apparently unimpressed with either fighter’s performance, announced afterward that he would not be booking a rematch and would instead turn his attention to planning Teixeira vs. Hill for the vacant title.

Teixeira seemed like an obvious choice for a shot because he was ahead on the scorecards against Prochazka (33-8) before losing via submission at the 4:32 mark of the fifth round. His wild back-and-forth adventure earned him numerous Fight of the Year honors from the MMA media.

Hill (11-1-1) was viewed as a surprise pick by some MMA observers, but his profile was rising as his last four wins came by stoppage. In his UFC headlining debut last August, he stopped former title challenger Thiago Santos in the fourth round. You can see who Marley supports here.

The best UFC 283 expert picks

We’ll share one of Marley’s UFC 283 picks here: He backs up Mounir Lazzez (+155) to beat Gabriel Bonfim (-180) in a matchup of explosive welterweight prospects on the undercard.

Lazzez (11-2) has made quite an impression with his pace and versatile skill set, winning two of his first three UFC appearances. The 35-year-old Tunisian hasn’t fought since he earned a decision victory over Ange Loosa in April of last year.

Bonfim (13-0) is a well-regarded prospect who will make his UFC debut after a series of dominating performances in various promotions. The 25-year-old Brazilian earned a contract with the promotion following a first-round submission by Trey Waters on “Dana White’s Contender Series” last September.

“Bonfim has nasty submissions and throws with bad intentions on the feet. But Lazzez should be the more technical striker and can win by stoppage or decision. I’d rather be on the underdog side in what’s considered a close fight.” Marley told SportsLine. See who else to choose here.
