Fans got the first signs that the Kramers were dealing with some serious issues when Joey took a ‘temporary leave of absence’ from Aerosmith in March, citing family as the main reason. At the time, the band was set to relaunch their Deuces Are Wild residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas.
‘He has regrettably made the decision to sit out the band’s concerts in 2022 so he can focus his full attention on his family during these uncertain times,’ the group said in a statement to USA Today in March, adding, ‘He and the band look forward to his future performances with Aerosmith.’
Those residency dates were ultimately canceled in May when lead singer Steven Tyler sought treatment after a relapse in his sobriety following a recent surgery.
